2026 TISDC《Campus Lecture：Circular Economy》Shih Chien University

The 2026 TISDC campus promotion program continued to strengthen the connection between design education and sustainability issues through a “Circular Economy Lecture” held at Shih Chien University on May 12. Through topic sharing and case study discussions, students were encouraged to rethink the relationship between fashion design, material applications, and sustainable development.

The lecture was led by TISDC Co-Director Hsieh Yung-Hsu, with fashion designer Pei-Wen Jin invited as the keynote speaker to share her observations and practical experiences in sustainable fashion and resilient design. The lecture explored the issue of fabric waste generated by traditional garment manufacturing processes and introduced the concept of “Zero Waste Design” as a way to redefine resource usage, emphasizing that material applications should not end with consumption, but instead consider how to extend the value and lifecycle of resources.

The event also featured various international sustainable design cases, including fashion works created from recycled snack packaging and banana fibers, demonstrating the diverse possibilities of circular design in transforming linear consumption into regenerative systems. Through case analyses and experience sharing, students were guided to understand that sustainability is not only about environmental protection, but also a way of rethinking the relationship between people, design, and the world.

In addition, the event included a TISDC competition promotion session led by Hsieh Yung-Hsu, introducing the 2026 competition theme “Resilience” and submission directions. Students were encouraged to integrate sustainable thinking and social observation into their creative works, using design to respond to the rapidly changing contemporary environment while cultivating innovative thinking, international perspectives, and socially conscious design practices. 🚀💡
