On March 28^th (Thu.) and 29^th (Fri.), the project director of Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC), Prof. Apex Lin, and the associate project director, Prof. Shin-Fu Lee, led the executive team to visit and promote TISDC in Tianjin area of China. About 200 teachers and students from Tianjin Normal University and Tianjin University of Science & Technology joined the promotional event.

The project director of TISDC, Prof. Apex Lin Pang-Soong mentioned that “Empathy” is the theme of this year’s competition and it’s a concept rooted in affective commitment. Therefore, for students who would like to participate in this year’s competition, they are encouraged to think and design from diversified perspectives. In addition to pointing out the detailed information about this year’s competition, Prof. Lin also encouraged students to keep accumulating their design energy and to participate in the competition actively, which definitely would evoke young designers’ infinite possibility!

The promotional campaign had rounded off and special thanks were given to all the teachers and students who joined it together. We hope this year TISDC could receive even more entries from students in Tianjin area and provide young designers with a platform for them to show the world their design works and creativity.

On April 1^st (Mon.), the project director of Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC), Prof. Apex Lin, and the associate project director, Prof. Jun-Hong Chen, promoted TISDC at Shanghai Institute of Design, China Academy of Art. Around 80 teachers and students joined the promotional event.

On 9^th April (Tue.), the associate project director of TISDC, Prof. Melvyn Liao was honored to go to Tunghai University to promote the competition. We gave our great appreciation to Prof. Li-Hui Lee for helping us arrange this promotional campaign. About 100 teachers and students from the Department of Industrial Design participated in the campaign. It’s our great pleasure to have exchange with students at Tunghai University and share the information of this year’s competition with them.

Targeting on the theme of this year’s competition, “Empathy,” Prof. Melvyn Liao introduced the competition to the attendees and shared some of the winning works of last year’s competition with them. Prof. Liao not only encouraged the students to actively cultivate their design skills and try to view things from different perspectives but also gave several examples of how to integrate this year’s theme, “Empathy,” into design works. Special emphasis was also put on this year’s ITRI Innovation Award of Brand Specified Category, sponsored by Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). ITRI will provide winning students of this category with both the rewards and the opportunities to cooperate with the best research and development team of the industry. This year, we expect to see more excellent works from Tunghai University to participate in TISDC.

2019 Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) has launched its promotional tour at many of the design schools and colleges in Taiwan. The theme of this year’s competition is “Empathy”!

The associate project director of TISDC, Prof. Jun-Hong Chen, visited Ming Chuan University to promote the competition on April 10^th. Around 120 teachers and students joined the session. Prof. Chen was delighted to communicate with the students face to face about design in our daily life and introduce TISDC to the attendees.

Special thanks were given to Dean of School of Design, Prof. Chi-Tung Hung, and Chair of Department of Commercial Design, Prof. Kao Chih-Chuan, for helping organize the promotional campaign. Targeting on the theme of this year’s competition, “Empathy,” Prof. Chen pointed out some detailed information about the competition and shared some of the winning works of last year’s competition in order to inspire the students to think in a more creative way and raise their willingness to join the competition. We look forward to seeing students from Ming Chuan University stand on the stage to receive this year’s awards!

On 8^th April (Mon.), the project director of TISDC, Prof. Apex Lin led the promotional campaign at the College of Design of Hsing Wu University. 180 teachers and students actively participated in the campaign. It’s our pleasure to have exchange with students at Hsing Wu University and share the information about this year’s competition with them.

Special thanks were given to Prof. Shang-Hua Wu, Dean of Design College, Prof. Shan-Yi Jau of Department of Digital Design, and Prof. Bo-Kai Kang and Prof. Yung-Tzuen Wong of Department of Commercial Design for attending and supporting this promotional campaign. Targeting on the theme of this year’s competition, “Empathy,” Prof. Lin pointed out some detailed information about the competition and shared some of the winning works of last year’s competition in order to inspire the students to think in a more creative way and raise their willingness to join the competition. Special emphasis was also put on this year’s Brand Specified Category, sponsored by Industrial Technology Research Institute, which will provide students with the opportunities to cooperate with the industry.

Prof. Lin encouraged students to focus on sharpening their professional skills, broadening their horizons, increasing their ability to perceive things from different perspectives, and seizing every chance to accumulate their energy in design, to have exchanges with others and to learn from others. This year, we expect to see more excellent works from Hsing Wu University to participate in TISDC.

A Look into 2019 Taiwan International Student Design Competition’s Promotional Campaign – New Era University College & INTI Center of Art and Design, April 10^th

On the third day of Taiwan International Student Design Competition’s (TISDC’s) promotional trip to Malaysia, the associate project directors, Prof. Ming-Lung Yu, Prof. Shi-Fu Lee and Lecturer Miira Lin, led the executive team to visit and promote TISDC at New Era University College and INTI Center of Art and Design on 10^th April. Around 190 teachers and students joined the promotional events together.

The theme of 2019 TISDC, “Empathy,” is a concept rooted in affective commitment. Prof. Yu not only reminded the students to view things from diverse perspectives and make good use of creative thinking when designing but also shared some of the winning works that TISDC received before with the attendees, hoping to spark their creativity.

Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC), a remarkable international competition in Taiwan design education, is in its twelfth year. Led by the associate project directors of TISDC, Prof. Ming-Lung Yu, Prof. Shi-Fu Lee and Lecturer Miira Lin, the executive team of TISDC visited Malaysia on 9^th April and promoted TISDC at Raffles College of Higher Education Kuala Lumpur and First City University College. In total, around 130 teachers and students joined the promotional events together.

Targeting on the theme, “Empathy,” of this year’s competition, the associate project director of TISDC, Lecturer Miira Lin, not only introduced the history of TISDC to the attendees but also shared some of the winning works with everyone, hoping to inspire the students who are interested in joining the competition and creating some sparkles in diverse cultures and design. Prof. Lee and Prof. Yu encouraged students to accumulate their design energy, view things and difficulties from distinct perspectives, and try their best to stand in others’ shoes when solving problems and doing design.

On 11^th April, 2019, the executive team of Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) was led by the associate project directors, Prof. Ming-Lung Yu, Prof. Shi-Fu Lee and Lecturer Miira Lin, to promote this year’s competition at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Raffles College of Higher Education, and Temasek Polytechnic. Around 200 teachers and students joined the promotional events together.

The associate project director of TISDC, Lecturer Miira Lin, revealed that “Empathy” is the theme of this year’s competition and it’s a concept rooted in affective commitment. Thus, Lecturer Lin encouraged students to observe and think from different perspectives and most importantly try to stand in others’ shoes when facing and solving problems. These are also what designers should do when they do their design works. During the promotional event, Lecturer Lin, shared some of the winning works that TISDC received before with the attendees as well. Prof. Lee and Prof. Yu also encouraged students to actively participate in international design competitions, which is a good way to sharpen young designers’ design skills and broaden their horizons.

On 15^th April, 2019, the project manager of Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC), Ms. Huang, led the promotional campaign of TISDC at the Department of Architecture of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) with the project manager of the Sprout Project of Design-International Design Competition (IDC). Around 70 faculty and students participated in the campaign. Project manager Ms. Huang not only pointed out some detailed information about this year’s competition but also shared what TISDC has done so far with the attendees. She encouraged students to participate in the competition and compete for high prize money actively as well as motivated them to accumulate their design energy by participating in design competitions. 

This promotional campaign targeted on the theme of this year’s competition, “Empathy.” Ms. Huang shared some of the winning works of last year’s competition in order to inspire the students to think in a more creative way and raise their willingness to join the competition. Special emphasis was also put on this year’s Brand Specified Category, sponsored by Industrial Technology Research Institute, which will provide winning students of the category with the opportunities to cooperate with the industry. We hope students could seize this chance to show the world their excellent works.

Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) is in its twelfth year and the theme of this year’s competition is “Empathy.” On 17^th April, the associate project director of TISDC, Prof. Ming-Lung Yu, led the executive team to promote the competition at Shilin High School of Commerce. Around 250 faculty and students joined the event together.

During the event, Prof. Yu focused not only on how to integrate the concept of “Empathy” into design works of different participating categories but also on analyzing the winning works of last year, hoping to encourage students’ creativity and innovation as well as broaden their horizons. Prof. Yu also reminded the students about the importance of enhancing their design skills, viewing things from different perspectives, and seizing every opportunity to participate in design competitions. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to fail.

Special thanks to Teacher Kuo-Wen Chung, head of the Department of Advertisement Design at Shilin High School of Commerce, for helping TISDC’s executive team arrange for the promotional event.
