Soil is one of the most primitive materials, also one of the most overlooked. If material itself contains tectonic potential, can soil generate its own tectonic relationships and be reinterpreted today?

This project is located at the Xiehe Brick Factory in Guishan, home to Taoyuan’s last remaining Bagua kiln. Introduced during the Japanese colonial period, the Bagua kiln improved brick-making efficiency, but rapid urbanization gradually pushed this former industrial core to the city’s edge. Returning to the conditions that produced the brick kiln, I reconsider the role of soil.

By combining soil and brick-kiln experimental education, excavated earth from nearby developments is reused through material and action, turning the site into a memorial landscape of memory that continues to evolve.
