With the development of intensive aquaculture, pond bottoms gradually accumulate large amounts of sludge each year. This sludge mainly comes from uneaten feed, fish and shrimp excrement, dead algae, and external sediment. Over time, it builds up, becoming a difficult-to-manage and often overlooked problem in aquaculture systems.
This outdoor aquaculture system combines sediment removal, aeration, energy generation, and feed production by using pond sludge to power microbial fuel cells, generating electricity while reducing organic pollution, feeding black soldier fly larvae with the post-generation sludge, returning leftovers as pond feed, stabilizing pond conditions, reducing maintenance, and providing a sustainable solution for energy recovery and environmental improvement.
