CO-DOMAIN COLLECTIVE HOUSING
A Vertical Park Social Housing in Hamasen, Kaohsiung
Hamasen is one of Kaohsiung’s most distinctive urban districts, where mountains, the harbor, and the sea converge within a low-rise historic neighborhood. Located adjacent to Hamasen MRT Station, the site is surrounded primarily by two- to four-story buildings and enjoys valuable views toward Shoushan Mountain and Kaohsiung Harbor. However, the introduction of a large-scale social housing development into such a sensitive context risks disrupting the existing skyline and weakening the visual relationship between the city and its natural landscape.
This project proposes *Co-Domain Collective Housing*, a new model of social housing that seeks to balance residential density with environmental sensitivity. Rather than treating housing as an isolated object, the design explores how architecture can coexist with the surrounding urban fabric and natural scenery.
