This project begins at the Shimen Reservoir, once a river’s dam, now buried in silt. As extraction starts, the sealed soil resurfaces, entering a long process of landscape change. Guided by gravity, earth moves—sifted, sorted, burned—into a kiln-like crematorium. A thousand years later, the chimney may remain, the land still settling. Not just a building, but a silent farewell—an echo of memory etched into the land.
